The match, which was originally postponed 10 days ago due to snow was given the go ahead for this Wednesday afternoon.

And, it proved a good day for Bologna, who were docked a point last week for having failed to pay their taxes.

Miguel Britos opened the scoring for the hosts on 39 minutes while Slovenian centre-half Bostjan Cesar restored parity four minutes after the break for Chievo.

But star striker Di Vaio had the last word three minutes into injury-time with a goal which took him joint top of the scoring charts with nine goals.

The victory at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara sent Bologna up to 13th spot in the table. The club are now seven points clear of the drop zone and are just one point behind Chievo.

The flying donkeys could have drawn level on points with fifth-placed Inter Milan had they won but instead stay 10th.
