Roda JC moved up to sixth in the Eredivisie table after drawing 1-1 at home to FC Utrecht on Wednesday.
Roda were looking to bounce back from a 3-1 defeat at De Graafschap on Saturday while Utrecht were in buoyant mood after Sunday's 4-0 home win over NEC Nijmegen.
But Roda are one of only two Eredivisie teams still unbeaten at home this season and took a 25th minute lead through Ruud Vormer.
Utrecht drew level, though, as Edouard Duplan pounced on the rebound after Dries Mertens' penalty had been saved by home goalkeeper Przemyslaw Tyton in the 61st minute.
The result kept Roda two points clear of their visitors, who remain ninth, although they will be rueing a seventh draw from 15 games this season as they are now nine points behind leaders PSV Eindhoven.
