Swindon eased through the FA Cup first round with a thumping 4-0 win at 10-man Plymouth on Saturday afternoon.

Plymouth-born Swindon defender Sean Morrison headed the Wiltshire side in front after 23 minutes from Jon-Paul McGovern's corner from the right. Swindon - who dominated the first half - doubled their advantage before half time through top scorer Charlie Austin in the 41st minute. The Robins striker took his tally for the season to eight goals by glancing home Michael Rose's pacy free-kick from the left. Argyle were reduced to 10 men in first-half stoppage time when midfielder Dean Parrett was sent off for a foul on David Prutton. Town target man Vincent Pericard further increased the visitors' lead when he redirected Matt Ritchie's left-wing cross past recalled Argyle goalkeeper Romain Larrieu in the 52nd minute. And Swindon further increased their advantage in the 69th minute when Austin's cross from wide on the right was headed home by Ritchie. Town - beaten 3-2 at home by Plymouth in League One in September - could have won by more goals if it was not for a string of early saves by busy Larrieu. The French keeper spectacularly tipped over Pericard's goal-bound flick in the seventh minute and brilliantly turned away Rose's rising free kick in the 17th minute as the Robins pressed for an opener.
