Ledesma: First goal for Rangers

Queens Park Rangers got back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Doncaster at Loftus Road.

Goals from Dexter Blackstock and Emmanuel Ledesma proved to be enough to give Iain Dowie's men the points over the Championship newcomers. Newly-promoted Rovers barely managed an effort on goal as they fell to their first defeat of the season.

Rangers showed no ill-effects from their defeat at Sheffield United last weekend and outplayed Rovers throughout the first half.

They went ahead in the fifth minute when on-loan Real Madrid youngster Daniel Parejo, lifted a free kick into the area.

Blackstock was unmarked in the six-yard box and had the simple task of tapping the ball over the line.

Lee Cook then fired wide and Damien Delaney shot over the top as Rangers went in search of a second.

Blackstock should have done better with a dangerous ball from Cook which he guided straight at Neil Sullivan, before Parejo nodded Peter Ramage's cross inches over the bar.

Livewire

The second goal eventually came in the 28th minute when the livewire Ledesma latched on to a long punt forward, held off two challenges and tucked the ball past a hopelessly exposed Sullivan.

The under-siege Rovers' keeper then saved well from Damion Stewart's header before comfortably keeping out Ledesma's ambitious bicycle kick before the break.

Doncaster finally mustered a shot on target in the 52nd minute when Richie Wellens' effort went straight at Radek Cerny.

James Coppinger then hit the side-netting as Rangers took their foot off the gas.

But the hosts were rarely threatened as they made it two wins from two from home this season.
