Pulis' men held in latest pre-season outing

Stoke City could only muster a 0-0 draw away at Wrexham on Friday, in a game which saw Ricardo Fuller sent off. Despite the contest being a pre-season friendly, tempers threatened to boil over from the off as no quarter was given by either team. The match officials were also in no mood to take things easy and leapt upon any misdemeanor. Unfortunately for the Potters, it was they who fell foul of the referee in the game's major flashpoint.

      Brave

Jamaican striker Fuller was alleged to have raised his hands to Wrexham left-back Neil Ashton and he was sent for an early bath. Stoke battled on bravely with 10-men for the remainder of the game and will argue that they had the better opportunities to claim a win. Turkish hit-man Tuncay Sanli looked the most likely to force a breakthrough during a hard-fought encounter, but he was unable to convert any of the chances which came his way. While the result was disappointing for Tony Pulis' side, as they ready themselves for the 2010/11 Premier League campaign, they will take heart from the fact that tricky winger Matthew Etherington returned to the fold and put in a lively display.
