Scott Boden grabbed a late winner as Chesterfield maintained their unbeaten home record with a 2-1 success against Southend.
Super-sub Boden struck in the third minute of stoppage time when a clearance ricocheted into his path and he fired in from close range. The Spireites went ahead after 27 minutes when Danny Whitaker coolly converted a penalty after a foul on Jack Lester. Southend levelled 10 minutes later when loan signing Waide Fairhurst set up Anthony Grant whose low shot found the bottom corner. The second half belonged to Southend with striker Matt Paterson striking the top of the bar with a looping header. Then Louie Soares smashed a shot against the post and saw his follow up effort brilliantly saved by home keeper Tommy Lee.
