The Bundesliga giants arrive in France with the upper hand thanks to their 1-0 first leg success at the Allianz Arena.
It could have been a different story for Lyon had they capitalised on Franck Ribery's dismissal prior to Jeremy Toulalan seeing red himself.
Another Arjen Robben long-range special settled the tie, meaning Lyon can now ill-afford to concede an away goal to Louis van Gaal's men.
Many have been critical of Lyon's defensive play and Lisandro Lopez has campaigned for a more attacking approach on Tuesday.
Lyon news
Lyon manager Claude Puel will make at least one change to his starting line-up with makeshift central defender Toulalan suspended.
Cris is set to take his place in the team after being doubtful with a knee injury and he could be partnered by fit-again Jean-Alain Boumsong.
Lyon have had six days to prepare for the encounter, after their Ligue 1 game with Monaco scheduled for the weekend was postponed.
It is in stark contrast to the build-up to the first match, when they were forced to travel to Germany by bus due to the volcanic ash cloud that grounded flights across Europe.
Bayern news
Bayern defenders Martin Demichelis, Daniel van Buyten and Diego Contento are all injury doubts for Van Gaal, who is promising attacking play.
Van Gaal, like Puel, is forced into at least one change, with Ribery suspended following his over-the-top challenge on Lisandro.
However, Van Gaal does welcome back veteran midfielder Mark van Bommel from suspension.
The Dutch tactician will also have to choose between Miroslav Klose or Mario Gomez in attack.
Midfielder Danijel Pranjic is also suspended while Ukraine midfielder Anatoliy Tymoshchuk has stayed in Germany because of an upset stomach.
