Pellissier: Opened the scoring
Chievo look to have wrapped up their Serie A future after pushing Livorno even closer to relegation with a 2-0 win at the Stadio Bentigodi.
Sergio Pellissier scored the first goal of a lacklustre encounter in the 28th minute before Elvis Abbruscato added a second two minutes from time to take Chievo 10 points clear of the bottom three with four games remaining.
The defeat leaves Livorno rooted to the bottom of the table, nine points adrift of safety, although that gap could become 12 on Sunday with just four games to go, practically confirming their immediate return to Serie B.
Pellissier was given too much room inside the Livorno penalty area in the 27th minute and threaded his shot inside Alfonso De Lucia's near post.
Abbruscato sealed the win two minutes from time as he ghosted in at the far post to place the ball into the bottom corner after Dario Knezevic had diverted Luca Rigoni's cross into his path.
Livorno's relegation to Serie B will be confirmed if both Bologna and Lazio win their matches on Sunday, since they have an inferior head-to-head record against both.
