Londoners stifled by five-man rearguard

Paul Tisdale's Exeter secured a crucial point in their fight against League One relegation in a dour goalless draw at Brentford. The Londoners always looked the more likely to break the deadlock, but were stifled by a five-man City rearguard. Brentford had the better of the chances in the first half, with City goalkeeper Paul Jones pulling off a full-length save to keep out Leon Legge's header. Bees leading goalscorer Charlie MacDonald and Myles Weston both saw efforts charged down on the half hour before Marcus Bean headed over from eight yards. The visitors rarely threatened, but came closest when Ryan Harley flashed a free-kick just over the crossbar and Scott Golbourne fired straight at Bees goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
