Substitute Stephen Elliott inspired League One leaders Norwich to a 3-1 win over Huddersfield.

However the Canaries were made to work for their win after going behind with just three minutes on the clock when defender Neal Trotman headed home an Anthony Pilkington corner at the near post.

The Terriers lived up to their dogged nickname as they dominated the majority of the game harassing the league leaders at every opportunity.

Town played some excellent football however saw Norwich shot-stopper Fraser Forster deny their efforts.

Elliott was then brought on for the away side just after the half hour mark and made a stunning impact later in the game.

Missed opportunities

Huddersfield were soon made to lament their missed opportunities in the 69th minute when Grant Holt side-footed in his 27th goal of the season after great work from Wes Hoolahan.

Preston's on-loan striker Elliott put Norwich in front at the Galpharm Stadium with a tap-in from a Holt pull-back.

The 26-year-old went on to seal the victory with a 20 yard drive five minutes from time.

The emphatic win recorded City's fourth straight win and equalled a club record with their tenth away win of the season.
