Southall: Crucial winner

Nicky Southall's second-half strike earned Gillingham a hard-fought 1-0 win to boost their play-off push and left Bournemouth deep in relegation trouble.

Andy Barcham turned expertly in the area and pulled the ball back for the veteran to grab his second league goal of the campaign just before the hour.

The Cherries began the game brightly and former Chelsea youngster Danny Hollands drove over from the edge of the box after only two minutes.

Shwan Jalal saved well from Mark Bentley and Barcham, while Gills keeper Simon Royce had to be alert to block Mark Molesley's powerful 25-yard drive.
