Hunt: Scored brace

A late Stephen Hunt brace saw Hull City come from two goals behind to earn a point against Bolton at the Reebok Stadium.

Man of Match: Stephen Hunt. Scored a late brace to earn his side a share of the spoils when Phil Brown's side had looked down and out. Moment of the match: Hunt's first goal on 71 minutes. It gave the Tigers belief and they pushed on for the second. Attempt of the match: Matthew Taylor had a long-range crack at goal which was just wide and over. Save of the match: Boaz Myhill made a good save to turn Gary Cahill's shot, which had deflected off Anthony Gardner, around the post. Talking point: Bolton fans were very upset when Gary Megson replaced Ivan Klasnic with Gavin McCann just before the equaliser, with plenty of boos. Goal of the game: Klasnic's. He took one touch before slotting home into the bottom corner with an excellent strike from just outside the box.

Ivan Klasnic put Bolton ahead in the 20th minute with a powerful low effort into the bottom corner after Andy Dawson had headed the ball into his path.

Kevin Davies then doubled the advantage on 61 minutes when heading a long free-kick from Paul Robinson after Boaz Myhill came for the ball but got nowhere near it.

But Hunt nodded home a Craig Fagan cross on 71 minutes before scoring from a tight angle seven minutes later to earn a share of the spoils.

Although Bolton have now taken six points from their last four matches, this was a huge opportunity missed.

Having been out-played for three quarters of the game Hull, who have not won at Bolton since March 1935, will have been satisfied with a point as they had lost three of their last four league matches and are still to win away this season.

After 20 minutes of relatively nondescript action, Bolton took the lead out of nowhere with a typical piece of route one football.

Zat Knight's high ball forward was knocked into the path of Klasnic by Dawson, who was under pressure from Lee Chung-Yong.

One touch

The striker took one touch before blasting a left-footed shot past Myhill, who appeared slow to get across his goal.

The goal was the on-loan Croatian's sixth in his last eight league matches.

Five minutes later Jussi Jaaskelainen fisted away Dawson's 25-yard free-kick and then had to be quick off his line to beat Jozy Altidore to Craig Fagan's through-ball.

Hunt had a chance to equalise in the 35th minute when Jaaskelainen fumbled a cross under pressure and the ball bounced off Gretar Steinsson to the Hull midfielder but his close-range header glanced the Bolton defender and went for a corner.

Tamir Cohen's foul on Altidore gave Hull a 30-yard free-kick a minute before the interval but the USA international drove wide.

Seven minutes into the second half Kamil Zayatte reacted a fraction of a second quicker than Cohen to flick away Paul Robinson's hanging free-kick as the Bolton midfielder prepared to shoot from six yards.

But Wanderers' defence has had cracks in it all season and no more so was it evident just before the hour when the unmarked Zayatte planted a header wide from Hunt's right-wing corner when he should have hit the target.

Costly miss

It was to prove a costly miss as Bolton went straight down the other end and added a second, for which Myhill was culpable.

The Hull goalkeeper came to collect Robinson's free-kick from the halfway line as it dropped gently into the penalty area but he failed to reach it as Davies out-muscled Bernard Mendy to nod a back-header past him.

Gary Cahill could have made the game safe but saw his low drive deflect enough off Anthony Gardner for Myhill to turn it around the post.

Bolton's hopes of a first clean sheet of the season were dashed in the 71st minute when their defensive frailty was exposed as Fagan crossed and Hunt headed home from close range.

Bolton boss Gary Megson brought on Gavin McCann for Klasnic to boos from the home crowd before Hunt scored a fortuitous equaliser seven minutes after his first goal.

The goal came when Jaaskelainen could only get a fingertip to his cross-shot from a tight angle and the ball crossed the line despite the best efforts of Robinson to hook it out.

In the last minute, Steinsson almost bagged the winner but his 18-yard shot was deflected just wide as the game ended in a draw, which keeps both sides in the relegation zone.
