Rochdale face a tricky FA Cup test away at Blue Square Premier side Luton Town in the first round on Saturday.

Dale are currently flying high in League Two and sit second, two points behind leaders Bournemouth.

Rochdale go into the tie in good form having lost just two of their last 11 league games but will be looking to improve their cup fortunes this term having lost in the first rounds of the Carling Cup and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy earlier in the season.

Meanwhile Luton, now under new manager Richard Money, are fifth in the Blue Square Premier and will be looking to bounce back into league football at the first time of asking come the end of the season.

Hatters news

On-loan striker Liam Hatch remains sidelined with an ankle problem while the versatile Lewis Emanuel continues his slow recovery from toe surgery.

Midfielder Keith Keane returned to training last week after suffering from medial knee ligament damage and could be back in contention to feature at the weekend.

Dale news

Rochdale could be forced into handing a debut to youth-team goalkeeper Danny Taberner with regular number one Kenny Arthur doubtful with a back injury and Matt Edwards sidelined with a fractured wrist.

Scunthorpe keeper Josh Lillis took the gloves for last weekend's stunning 4-0 win over Bournemouth after arriving on an emergency seven-day loan, but he has since returned to his parent club so Taberner is set to step in should Arthur miss out again.

Dale boss Keith Hill is also hampered by the unavailability of loan players Simon Whaley and Dale Stevens, who have both been denied permission to play by their parent clubs but Chris O'Grady has been allowed to play by Oldham.

Scott Wiseman and Will Buckley are rated doubtful, while skipper Gary Jones is highly unlikely to feature after suffering a minor setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Ciaran Toner has returned to training following a spell on the sidelines with shin splints but he is not yet ready for a first-team return.
