Gills go 11th while Exeter hover above the dropzone

Simeon Jackson bagged a double as Gillingham brushed aside Exeter in a routine 3-0 win. The Canadian international opened with a penalty after five minutes before delicately chipping his second straight after the break, with Luke Rooney completing the scoring after 76 minutes. Jackson fired home a spot-kick via the right hand post to put the home side ahead after Marcus Stewart had bundled into Barry Fuller. There were early signs of Exeter's desperation when Ryan Harley's 45-yard strike sailed over the bar in their first attempt at goal after 40 minutes. Straight from the restart Richard Duffy's weak backpass was pounced upon by Jackson who lifted the ball over Oscar Jansson from six yards to notch his eighth of the season. Liam Sercombe had the last of Exeter's efforts with a low 25-yard strike that fizzed just past the post. Rooney then added the third after John Nutter was given space to cross and find the on-rushing midfielder who hit home from 10 yards.
