QPR boss Paulo Sousa believes his players are improving with each game he has at the helm.

R's boss sees improvement in every game

Queens Park Rangers boss Paulo Sousa believes his players are improving with each game he has at the helm. Sousa has only been in charge since the middle of last month, but Saturday's 3-2 success over Preston puts them within touching distance of the play-offs. Preston gave as good as they got at Loftus Road, but Dexter Blackstock's late winner for The R's was enough to settle a five-goal thriller in West London. "I believe a lot in my players. I don't have doubts about them, they are getting better and more consistent," added Sousa. "To make a big step you need players with qualities, different players, to get more alternatives. It's easier for a manager when you have more resources.

No problem

"I know what's needed and I think we can get it - but if we don't get it it's not a problem for me. "Lee (Cook) has come back from an injury and is starting to get better physically while his skill and quality is always the same - fantastic. "We need to use players with this kind of quality to achieve success." Preston manager Alan Irvine was disappointed not to come away with at least a point, stating: "I think we deserved something. "In the first half QPR were the better team and I was praying for the whistle to come, but in the second half we were the better team and I thought we would go on and win."
