Robson: Sensational second
Managerless Hartlepool have climbed into 10th in the League One ladder following a 3-0 win over Southend.
Pools dismissed Danny Wilson earlier this week and caretaker boss Chris Turner has put himself in contention to land the post following a comfortable win over the struggling Shrimpers.
The home side forged ahead just four minutes into the contest when Kevin Kyle swept home Joel Porter's cross into the far corner of the net.
They doubled their advantage in emphatic fashion on 36 minutes when Matty Robson's left-footed thunderbolt from 25-yards left Southend keeper Steve Mildenhall with little chance of a save.
Southend, who had gone six games without a league win since their 1-0 success over Leeds at the back end of October, were left with a mountain to climb after Adam Barrett was given his marching orders.
Kyle bagged his second of the game on 61 minutes when he tapped home Robson's cut-back to seal a fine 3-0 success and leave the visiting fans an unenviable lengthy trip home.
