Leicester v Sheff Utd preview

Leicester hope to have two defenders available for the visit of Sheff Utd, who are missing two key performers.

Defensive duo should be fit for Foxes, Blades missing pair

Leicester City hope to have two key defenders available for the visit of Sheffield United, who are missing two influential performers. Foxes boss Nigel Pearson will hope the postponement of last weekend's clash with Cardiff has given Bruno Berner and Wayne Brown the time they need to recover. Berner was a doubt for the trip to Wales after a calf injury forced the Swiss full-back off during the victory over Sheffield Wednesday, while centre-half Brown was nursing a knock. However, that game being called off means that on-loan striker Martyn Waghorn still has two games of a three-match suspension to serve. He will miss the Blades' Boxing Day visit to the Walkers Stadium and the trip to Doncaster two days later. Club captain Stephen Clemence continues to progress in his recovery from a persistent heel injury and the midfielder could end a 21-month absence by making a long-awaited comeback in January.

Blades news

Sheffield United head to the Walkers Stadium without midfielder Lee Williamson and striker Darius Henderson due to injury. Williamson is struggling with a hamstring problem and Henderson has pulled a gluteal muscle. Kevin Blackwell said: "If either player is back in contention before the end of January it would be an unexpected bonus." But Ched Evans (ear infection) and Andy Taylor (virus) could return at Leicester and Blackwell is hoping to extend Fulham defender Toni Kallio's loan spell with the Blades in time for the Finland international to feature. The Blades, two points behind Leicester, are hoping to leapfrog the Foxes into the play-off places by extending their unbeaten league run to seven matches.
