Fernando Forestieri was sent off for the second time in a week as Sheffield Wednesday drew 0-0 at Championship leaders Hull on Friday.
After being dismissed against Preston last weekend, the striker saw red again at the KC Stadium after receiving a second booking for diving late in the game.
In a tightly-contested game, Forestieri had gone closest to breaking the deadlock in the first half when he hit the bar with a spectacular long-range effort.
Sam Clucas curled a shot against the post after the break as Hull stepped up the pressure, but Steve Bruce's side could not find the breakthrough even with a numerical advantage for the final few minutes.
While the draw sees Hull extend their lead at the top of the table to two points, they will slip down to second if Burnley win at Bolton on Saturday.
Bruce stuck with the same side that beat Ipswich in midweek but it was Wednesday who created the better chances in the first half.
Allan McGregor reacted sharply to keep out a deflected shot from Barry Bannan before tipping a free-kick from Forestieri over the bar.
Robert Snodgrass went close for the hosts when he controlled a deep cross to the far post but his shot from a tight angle was saved by Keiren Westwood.
Forestieri almost broke the deadlock 10 minutes before half-time when his dipping shot beat McGregor but came back off the bar.
Hull made a bright start to the second half as Clucas chipped narrowly wide after he had been put through on goal.
The midfielder was then denied by the post after 65 minutes when he shot from the edge of the area after exchanging passes with Jake Livermore.
The visitors cleared the loose ball for a corner but Davies headed just wide as the home side saw another opportunity go begging.
Snodgrass then shot at Westwood before the Wednesday goalkeeper saved from Abel Hernandez with 10 minutes remaining.
Forestieri was sent off in stoppage time when referee Tim Robinson showed him a second yellow card for simulation when he went down after a Michael Dawson challenge.
