Diego Colotto grabbed a late equaliser for Espanyol as they were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Rayo Vallecano. Christian Stuani handed the home side an early lead but goals from Iago Falque and Joaquin Larrivey either side of half-time turned the game on its head before Colotto struck with two minutes to play. The result moves Rayo a step closer to safety as they now sit six points clear of the drop zone while Espanyol are safely in mid-table. Espanyol had the lead after just three minutes as Pizzi supplied the pass into the box and Stuani was on hand to supply a firm finish beyond Ruben Martinez. Rayo battled back and Ruben Rochina had an effort blocked by Colotto before Francisco Casilla denied him with a smart save moments later. The visitors continued to come forward and had a golden chance to equalise after 20 minutes when Larrivey connected with a Roberto Trashorras corner but mis-hit his finish. The equaliser eventually came two minutes before the break as Alberto Bueno got forward and found Falque who curled home an effort from 12 yards. That took the teams in level at half time and just five minutes after the interval Rayo had the lead through Larrivey. Bueno was involved again as he got forward and crossed for the Argentinian to powerfully head home from the centre of the area. It would have been three just after the hour were it not for a stunning save from Casilla as he turned away a Rochina bullet. David Lopez had a chance from a corner for Espanyol but put his effort over the bar before the home side grabbed an equaliser with two minutes to play. Manuel Lanzarote supplied the cross and former Deportivo striker Colotto was on hand to head home from six yards.
