On-loan winger scores in each half to leave opponents struggling

Bochum failed to boost their hopes of survival in the Bundesliga after going down to a 2-0 defeat away to Cologne. On-loan Manchester United winger Zoran Tosic scored both goals for Cologne, netting in each half to leave Bochum just a point outside the bottom three. The first half was largely contested in the middle third, though Tosic looked lively and saw a shot comfortably saved by visiting goalkeeper Philipp Heerwagen in the 11th minute. The Serbian fared better four minutes later, though, when he was played in behind the defence by Taner Yalcin. Tosic calmly took the ball around Heerwagen before slotting into the empty net with his left foot from three yards. Tosic was to the fore once again on the hour mark, firing in a 25-yard effort from the right flank which Heerwagen did well to push over the crossbar. Milivoje Novakovic then went close from similar range, his left-footed shot flashing narrowly wide of the near post, before Tosic made the game safe with 22 minutes remaining. A neat one-two with Adam Matuschyk left the 22-year-old in the left side of the penalty area and he curled the ball beyond Heerwagen into the far top corner for his and Cologne's second goal. A goalmouth scramble seven minutes from time was the sole threat to the home side's dominance, the ball eventually breaking to Joel Epalle only for Faryd Mondragon to push his effort around the post and send the majority of a 46,000 crowd home happy.
