Bury v Macclesfield preview

Macclesfield can ensure their league status with a win over high-flying Bury on Saturday.

Dawson suspended; Yeo out with injury

Macclesfield can ensure their league status with a win on Saturday, but standing in the way are high-flying Bury. Keith Alexander's side are currently seven points clear of the drop with just three games to go, while Bury are on the brink of the automatic promotion places. However the Shakers will be without suspended midfielder Stephen Dawson for the clash as the 23-year-old serves the second game of his two-match ban for accumulating 10 yellow cards. That means John Welsh will retain his place in the starting line-up after helping his side to a 2-2 draw at Darlington on Easter Monday. Star striker Andy Bishop will again take his place in manager Alan Knill's attack after making his first start following a knee injury in that match. Lying in fourth place, Bury will be looking to keep up the pace in their bid for an automatic promotion place. Only goal difference is keeping Knill's men out of the top three, so a win over Macclesfield could take them into the top three with just two games remaining.

Silkmen news

Macclesfield are set to be without striker Simon Yeo for the short trip. The 35-year-old suffered a knee injury in the 2-0 victory over Chester on Saturday and will have a scan to ascertain the extent of the problem. Emile Sinclair replaced Yeo in the starting XI for Easter Monday's 1-0 defeat to Morecambe and he could retain his place at Gigg Lane. Fellow striker Francis Green is a doubt through illness, while defensive duo Rikki Bains and James Jennings are both still out with their knee problems. Bains will undergo an operation on Friday while Jennings is also set to miss the rest of the season. However, there is some positive news for Keith Alexander with defender Sean Hessey having returned to training this week following a groin injury, but he is unlikely to be risked in this match.
