Burton v Port Vale preview

Image: Taylor: Could feature for Burton

Team news ahead of Tuesday night's League Two clash between Burton and Port Vale at the Pirelli Stadium.

Burton boss Paul Peschisolido could name an unchanged side if Cleveland Taylor recovers from a knock. The midfielder was forced off midway through the second half of the 1-1 home draw against Shrewsbury on Saturday, when Tom Parkes returned to the Albion defence after suspension in place of the injured Nathan Stanton. Should Taylor not be fit, his replacement against the Shrews, John McGrath could return to the starting line-up for the first time since the opening day of the season. Aaron Webster shook off a calf strain to start at the weekend and suffered no ill-effects. It remains to be seen whether centre-half Stanton will return to the squad following his knock. Marc Richards and Mike Green remain injury doubts for Port Vale. Both players have been nursing ankle problems. Striker Richards has not played since the opening day of the season against Crawley, while left-back Green missed Vale's first victory of the campaign at Barnet on Saturday. Following an impressive performance at Underhill, where centre-back Gareth Owen made his first appearance of the season after recovering from an Achilles injury, Richards and Green may struggle to get back into the starting XI should they prove their fitness. Not for the first time during his two spells at the club, manager Micky Adams reverted from a 4-4-2 formation to selecting three centre-halves against Barnet. His interchangeable 3-5-2/3-4-3 wing-back system did the trick in ironing out the defensive deficiencies which saw Vale concede six goals in their first two games this season, and Adams may stick with it at the Pirelli Stadium.
