Nicholls off as relegated Hatters secure draw

Rossi Jarvis struck to earn relegated Luton a 1-1 draw in a tetchy game at Barnet which saw skipper Kevin Nicholls sent off. The former Norwich midfielder latched onto Michael Spillane's pass and lofted the ball into an unguarded net four minutes after the break when keeper Lee Harrison crazily dashed from his line. Adam Birchall tapped home from two yards in first-half stoppage time to give Barnet the lead after Gary Breen had headed Kenny Gillet's accurate free-kick against the post. Yannick Bolasie - who drew the foul from Jarvis for Birchall's opener - saw a deflected shot hit the crossbar in the 16th minute as the Bees shaded the first half. Paul Furlong spurned the chance of a 201st career goal 15 minutes from time as Hatters keeper Dean Brill expertly saved his spot-kick after Sol Davis tripped Albert Adomah. Referee Dean Whitestone brandished a pair of yellow cards for Nicholls and Bolasie four minutes later after a scuffle between the pair and a second yellow saw the combative Luton skipper dismissed, before a covering tackle from Davis denied Furlong a stoppage-time winner.
