Barcelona have claimed yet another trophy as their superiority told in the end. Fabregas scored the second after Messi had scored in the first half. It was a professional performance from Barca. Porto, though, should not be disappointed as there is plenty they can take from this game.
A great run by Alves who shows great composure to pick out Iniesta. He in turn shows great composure to check inside and fire a low drive that is tipped over by the 'keeper.
It's a sad end really to the game for Porto as they started so well and showed plenty of spirit. They have played well but the quality of Barca has shown in the end
Messi finds Fabregas with a delightful pass to find his late run from midfield. Fabregas took it on the chest before volleying the ball into the roof of the net. Brilliant goal!!!
Messi is brought down by Rolando as he was leading a dangerous looking counter attack, with Sanchez and Fabregas on either side of him.
Time is running out for Port here. If they are going to do anything they will need to do it quickly.
Alves skips past a lunging Porto defender but given the time and space he had, his delivery was poor.
A bad touch from Abidal allows Guarin to get to the ball ahead of the Barca defender who appeared to bring down the Porto player. It was clumsy by Abidal but there definitely looked like contact.
CHANCE!!! Sanchez is quickly into the game and looking to get onto the scoresheet. He produces a couple of rapid step overs before trying to curl the ball into the top corner but it goes high and wide.
Mascherano and Valdez have a breakdown in communications. The mix up almost allows the Hulk to get in between them but Abidal uses his strength and speed to get back and clear the danger.
Sanchez and Iniesta trade passes before Iniesta tries an eye of a needle pass to Pedro. He's just inches away from reaching it. It would have been a delightful pass.
Barcelona are not dominating but they are very much in control. Fabregas is warming up on the touchline and he will be chomping at the bit to get on this pitch.
Barcelona are stroking the ball around waiting for the moment to pounce. And it comes when Iniesta tries to slide in Messi who is just adjudged to have be offside.
There were appeals from Porto for a penalty which were ignored but Barca went up the other end of the field and almost scored through Pedro. However, his miscontrol allowed the 'keeper to clear the ball.
Alves was caught in possesion by the hardworking Cristian Rodriguez. He tried to advance towards goal but the recovery of Keita was excellent to get back and cover.
The next goal in the game will be crucial. A goal for Porto would see them right back in this contest, while one for Barca would see them cruise to victory.
CHANCE!!! Barca carved opened Porto to create a chance for Villa. Iniesta played the final pass after neat work by Messi, but Villa did not have the accuracy in his shooting to get the sceond goal.
CHANCE!! Guarin tries to make amends for his loose pass that the to the goal in the first half. His stunning 25-yard drive that was curling inside the post was tipped out by Valdes.
Moutinho is teed up on the edge of the box and his thumping drive is blocked by Abidal. Good defending.
Kleber shows good speed and strength to hold off Keita but Adriano gets back to help him and they win the ball back.
Great example of the Barca work ethic. Iniesta tried a back heel that didn't come off and lost the ball. But he chased back to win the ball.
Guarin just played a stray ball for Porto. They will need to keep the ball better to give themselves a chance.
Will Barca flex their muscles and extend their lead or will Porto prove themselves to be a match for the European Champions? We will soon find out.
A mistake allowed Messi in to score the goal which has sent Barcelona in at the interval ahead. Porto will feel hard done by but if they can replicate what they have shown after the interval, they will have a chance. Join us back in a few minutes for the second half.
Abidal was alomost caught in possesion but a robust challenge from Mascherano on Hulk spared his blushes.
Villa just tried to play a trademark one-two with Messi but he was blocked by a Porto defender. But the referee strangely decided not to give a spot kick.
The goal was really a bad one to concede for Porto. They had matched Barca for the most part of this game. But at this level one mistake is fatal.
A Porto defender plays a stray pass which is seized on by Messi in a flash. He shimmies around the the 'keeper and then slots the ball home. A terrible mistake by Porto.
CHANCE!!!! Adriano plays a swift one-two with Villa to get free down the left touchline. He pulled it back for Xavi but his shot was tipped over.
Barca are trying to find gaps in this Porto defence and they are trying to move the ball around quickly to find any gaps in their backline. So far, they are holding firm.
Iniesta and Messi are starting to link up. The Spain midfielder tried to loft a pass across to Mess on the right side. But the Porto defence pushed up and caught him offside.
Messi jsut gave us a little glimpse of his magical quick feet. He skipped past three defenders and tried to play in Iniesta but the defender managed to get a block on the pass. Could this be the start of more to come.
Hulk has just played in a quality cross from the right after tricking Villa with a lovely piece of skill. Valdes came out for it but Alves manages managed to get a head onto the cross.
Alves just got into a promisisng situation down the right but his delivery into the box was easily cleared.
His resulting free-kick hits the wall and it seems he still trying to find his range from dead ball situations.
Porto are again pressing Barca high up the pitch which results in turnover. Hulk is brought down by Mascherano as he advances towards goal.
A lovely run and piece of skill by the Hulk. He tried to find the bottom corner with a curling effort but it went well wide.
CHANCE!!! Joao Moutinho has a shot from the edge of the box that has Valdes diving across his goal to tip it out for a corner.
Hulk fires a free-kick over the bar from just outside the D. He really should have worked Valdes and hit the target at least.
Porto are working well in these early stages and they are closing down Barca and making them work for their passing angles.
The pre-match fireworks have left a bit of a smokescreen over the pitch. But Barca are still able to find each other with their passing.

But despite losing coach Andre Villas-Boas to Chelsea and striker Radamel Falcao to Atletico Madrid, Pep Guardiola is not taking them lightly. Porto won the league last season without losing a game and they also claimed the Europe League title in a remarkable campaign.
Due to the strikes in Spain, the Primera Liga has yet to start to this season but Barca have already gleaned silverware. They beat arch rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup. The Catalans now boast 11 trophies in the last four seasons.
It promises to be an exciting game as Barcelona look to add yet another trophy to their bulging collection of awards.
