Zoran Tosic earned Serbia their first point of the 2016 European Championship qualifying campaign with a last-gasp equaliser against Armenia.

Both sides went into the game on the back of defeats in their opening Group I fixtures and could not be separated following a 1-1 draw in Yerevan.

Defender Robert Arzumanyan had put Armenia ahead but Marcos Pizzelli saw a late penalty saved before Tosic hit a 90th-minute leveller for Dick Advocaat's side.

Southampton winger Dusan Tadic came close to opening the scoring for Serbia as his long-range effort was tipped around the post by Roman Berezovsky.

Serbia's Zoran Tosic equalises in the 89th minute against Armenia with this perfectly placed shot.

Zdravko Kuzmanovic was next to test Berezovsky but Armenia were able to keep their visitors at bay, with Pizzelli coming close on the half-hour mark.

Tosic had a good chance before the break but Serbia, who lost Liverpool's Lazar Markovic to injury before the interval, could not find a way through.

The second half was more even but Stefan Mitrovic could only head over from close-range as Serbia continued to push for the opening goal.

More from European Qualifiers

It was Armenia who broke the deadlock with a little over 15 minutes remaining as Arzumanyan showed Mitrovic how it was done as he climbed highest to nod home Taron Voskanyan's cross.

Armenia then passed up a great chance to seal a vital three points as Bernard Challandes' side were awarded a penalty as Stefan Mitrovic brought down Arthur Sarkisov inside the box.

Pizzelli struck the resulting spot-kick with venom but Serbia goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic was equal to his effort and kept the penalty out.

And the hosts were made to pay for their miss as CKSA Moscow winger Tosic latched onto Danko Lazovic's pass to finish from 20 yards and secure a share of the spoils for Serbia, who welcome Albania to Belgrade next week still in search of their first win.
