Accrington Stanley and Aldershot were forced to settle for a point apiece in an opening-day 0-0 draw at the Crown Ground.
The hosts had the better of the first half, but Sean McConville's drive, tipped over by Shots goalkeeper Jamie Young, was all they had to show for their efforts. Aldershot's lone striker Marvin Morgan was denied by a good block from shot-stopper Ian Dunbavin at the other end. Shortly after the restart, Morgan fired into the side-netting after a slip from Phil Edwards, but with a severe lack of service to their isolated frontman, the visitors rarely threatened. For Stanley, Jimmy Ryan and Charlie Barnett came close, but the Lancashire side could not find the goal that their dominance warranted and the game petered out.
