Dons move up to sixth following late Pittodrie win

Chris Maguire was Aberdeen's hero as his well taken brace ensured Falkirk left Pittodrie with only a 2-1 defeat for their troubles. The win sees Aberdeen leapfrog over their visitors in the SPL table to sixth, largely thanks to the performance of in-form Maguire. From Zander Diamond's flick into Falkirk's box, the striker showed all his predatory instincts to divert the ball home and open the scoring in the 21st minute. It was a lead they held until the half-time break but not long after, as Falkirk drew level in the 49th minute through Carl Finnigan. Dons goalkeeper Derek Soutar will not be pleased with how he dealt with a cross from Scott Arfield, as his mishandling of the ball allowed Finnigan to pounce. With a draw looking the most likely result, Aberdeen delighted the Pittodrie faithful by conjuring a winner with just eight minutes left on the clock. Sone Aluko demonstrated some fine wing play in keeping the ball in play, before delivering a centre that Maguire squeezed in from the tightest of angles.
