Name John 'Fenners' Fendley
Date of Birth 16/09/1969
Place of Birth Scarborough
Professional career
It may come as a surprise to some but I have never played professional football.
Managerial experience
None so far, but not ruling it out. Got my FA Preliminary coaching badge in 1992. Is that still valid? I've got some nice coats which Jose and Pep would give their right arms for. I can bellow "squeeze" and "shoe it away!" in a raspy voice and do that passing instruction thing with my hands that looks like you are dealing invisible cards. You know the one. No?
Fantasy Goal (a great goal from history that you wish you had scored)
Probably Terry McDermott's header against Spurs at Anfield in the 7-0 win. David Johnson's pass to Steve Heighway, the first-time cross hung up and the bullet header finish. So fluid. The sort of goal I'd try and re -create with a mate unsuccessfully on a regular basis.
Fantasy Match (a match you wish you'd played in)
England 4-1 Holland. To beat a top team so comprehensively - by outplaying them - in a tournament was something we haven't done too often.
Fantasy Team (a team you wish you'd played in)
Probably the Brazilian team of '82. Eder, Socrates, Falcao, Zico and er...Fendley. Eder's goals in that tournament were amazing, especially the one against the USSR. Google it!
Fantasy Manager (a manager you wish you'd played under)
Colin Appleton, Bob Paisley or Jose Mourinho
Fantasy Replay (a match you wish you could play again)
My first ever school match. It was in Ayton near Scarborough. I scored a goal which I think was probably miles offside. The feeling of euphoria was completely new to me and something I still experience even at my tin-pot level. I don't experience it very often, I hasten to add.
Fantasy Shirt Swap (the player you wish you could / could have swapped shirts with)
Zidane
Fantasy Teammate (the player from any era you would like in your club side)
Ray Kennedy. Effortless.
Fantasy Ground (the ground you wish you'd played at)
The San Siro. I expect it would be amazing. I've watched a game there and it was pretty special.
Fantasy Kit (the kit you wish you'd worn)
The Kappa Juventus kit as worn by Platini; Ariston on the front. Classic.
