Julian Leal has moved to 2013 Teams' Championship runners-up Carlin this year's GP2 Series.

The Colombian drove for Racing Engineering last season and achieved his maiden podium finish with second at Spa in the sprint race, which he followed up with a third place finish at Monza a couple of weeks later.

The move to Carlin means that the 2008 Italian F3000 Champion will have had four teams in as many seasons since graduating to GP2 in 2011.

"I'm delighted to be racing with Carlin this season", Leal said.

""The team were very impressive last year and have a great reputation. The GP2 Series remains the championship to be in, with another fantastic calendar on the F1 support package. I want to thank my family and sponsors for their continued support in my career. Together with Carlin I think we can have a very strong season and I can't wait to get in the car in Abu Dhabi."

Having seen his team achieve their best ever GP2 season last year, Team Principal Trevor Carlin is hoping Leal's experience will help his outfit achieve even more in 2014.

"We're delighted that Julian is joining our GP2 team for the 2014 season," he said.

"He is a very experienced driver and will bring a lot to the team. We can't wait to get back on track in March and build on the fantastic progress we made in 2013."
