Toro Rosso boss Franz Tost says the team have "no need to rush" a decision on who will replace the Red Bull-bound Daniel Ricciardo in 2014.

Having emerged over the summer as the frontrunner to replace the retiring Mark Webber, Ricciardo was confirmed as his compatriot's successor on Monday night. The announcement leaves Toro Rosso in search of a new driver to replace Ricciardo but Tost has indicated it may be some time before a decision is made.

"We are very pleased to see Daniel make this move, which means he will follow in the footsteps of Sebastian Vettel," Tost commented. "As to who will replace Daniel at Toro Rosso in 2014, we will now look at all our options and make a decision at a later date, as there is no immediate need to rush.

"When Dietrich Mateschitz acquired the team that became Toro Rosso, his stated aim was that it should be the final step in the training of young drivers, with the eventual goal of graduating to the 'senior' team.

"Daniel's move thus vindicates the work of the Red Bull Young Driver Programme and also proves that we at Toro Rosso have given him a good racing education."

The highly-rated Felix da Costa has been widely predicted to replace Ricciardo, while Tost was insistent over the weekend of the Hungarian GP that Jean-Eric Vergne would be retained despite being overlooked by Red Bull.
