On My Special Day: Morgan Gwatkin meets Jenson Button
Last Updated: 31/12/13 8:31am
The final show of the current series of My Special Day sees 13-year-old Morgan Gwatkin meet 2009 Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button.
Morgan suffers from sufactanct metabolism dysfunction, a life-limiting, chronic lung disease. He currently has 20% lung function, and may need a double-lung and heart transplant in the future.
Having been surprised with the news that he had been selected for My Special Day - with a personal message from Jenson Button himself - Morgan arrived at the McLaren Technology Centre for an incredible experience with the team.
Met by Team Principal Martin Whitmarsh, Morgan was given a unique behind the scenes tour of the facility, including the areas where the team's F1 cars are made, and shown a number of past and present McLaren cars.
Jenson then provided Morgan with a signed replica of his current helmet along with team merchandise as a souvenir of his big day.
But that wasn't the end to Morgan's Special Day, as he was then taken out for an exhilarating drive in a McLaren MP4-12C - with a top speed of 204mph!
You can watch 'My Special Day from 6am and throughout the day on New Year's Eve on Sky Sports News - with a 60 minute special featuring the best of the series on New Year's Day at 2pm on Sky Sports 2HD.
