Sky Sports F1 understands that the cameraman hit by Mark Webber's loose wheel has suffered a broken collarbone and ribs.

Having been treated at the circuit medical centre, FOM cameraman Paul Allen was transported by helicopter to Koblenz Hospital where he is being kept under observation.

At the first round of stops, the Red Bull driver was released before his right-rear had been properly fitted and it bounced down the pit-lane hitting Allen, knocking him to the ground.

"During the German GP, an FOM cameraman in pit lane was struck by a loose wheel," an FIA statement read.

"Paul Allen was hit on the left hand side. Remaining conscious, he was treated at the circuit medical centre and then transported by helicopter to Koblenz Hospital. The Briton has been kept there, under observation."

A stewards' investigation into Red Bull's unsafe release was held after the race and the World Champions were handed a €30,000 fine.

Update: FOM confirmed in a statement on Monday that Allen was "expected to make a full recovery".
