Felipe Massa captained a team of F1 drivers against an all-star line-up led by tennis star Novak Djokovic in the annual pre-Monaco GP charity football match.

As is now a two-decade tradition ahead of motor sport’s showpiece race, a number of drivers swapped the track for the pitch at Monaco’s Stade Louis II on Tuesday night to contest the World Stars football game and raise money for underprivileged children.

Williams driver Massa, a regular at the event, was joined in the fittingly chequered flag-style shirts by Force India’s Sergio Perez, Toro Rosso rookie Carlos Sainz and Manor pair Will Stevens and Roberto Merhi. Reserve drivers Esteban Gutierrez and Pascal Wehrlein were also

They were joined by former Ferrari drivers Giancarlo Fisichella and Ivan Capelli were also part of the F1 line-up, as was France’s former Arsenal and Chelsea defender William Gallas to add some specialised football expertise.

Djokovic, the world number one tennis player and eight-time Grand Slam winner, resides in the principality and captained the all-star team to a 3-1 victory over the F1 stars. While not playing, Paris Hilton was also in attendance and on hand for the post-match awards ceremony.

F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton wasn't in action, but the Mercedes driver did pull his football boots on the day after the Spanish GP earlier this month to join some Arsenal legends for a five-a-side match against a team of Sky Sports pundits.
