Bruno Senna is expecting a tough race in Valencia as the cars and tyres struggle with the high temperatures in the Spanish city.
Senna had a disappointing Canadian Grand Prix, qualifying in a lowly 16th place and finishing the race in 17th, whilst his team-mate, Pastor Maldonado, stormed from the back of the grid to finish in 13th, once again outperforming the Brazilian.
The 28-year-old is hoping consistent weather conditions throughout the weekend will help him get a better balance in the car and deliver a stronger result.
"I like the sun and I really like the heat, but I don't think the cars like it too much," he told
Sky Sports News.
"It will be a tough race. I think the tyres like the heat even less than the cars but it is the same for everyone. I am looking forward to the first weekend of consistent weather so we can focus fully on getting the car right for the race.
"The first thing we have to do is forget about Canada. We are aiming to be back in the points, be stronger than we were in Canada and maybe as strong as we were in Monaco. We defiantly want to be back in the points and anything after that is a bonus."
Whilst technically classified as a street circuit, Senna feels that the challenge presented by the Valencia circuit has more in common with Bahrain than Monaco.
"I think the track is similar to Bahrain as it is hot and there are quite a few slow corners followed by long straights, so it is tough on the rear tyres," he added.
"I definitely don't think we will see many people try to one stop in this place.
"This is one of the hardest places to overtake, not quite as bad as Monaco but pretty bad so qualifying is going to be very important.
"The tyres are going to suffer here. It is to be really hot on Sunday, and the hotter it is the harder it is to one stop."
