Fernando Alonso said Ferrari can be satisfied with their start to the Monaco GP weekend, even if rain left them frustrated in afternoon practice.
Spaniard says F2012 felt 'positive' before P2 rain arrived
Fernando Alonso was pleased with Ferrari's start in Monaco, although admitted it was a shame that bad weather had caused disruption on the opening day of practice.
Rain meant the Spaniard only had a brief window in which to try and match his first place finish in morning practice on Thursday afternoon, although both he and team-mate Felipe Massa still finished in the top four for Ferrari.
Alonso admits the usual flow of laps drivers need to have around Monaco to build confidence was somewhat scuppered by the rain, but was nonetheless pleased with the F2012.
"Thursday in Monaco provides the best opportunity to reacquaint ourselves with a very unique track," he said.
"The more you go round, the more you gain confidence and the harder you can push to bring the lap time down but in the afternoon, the rain came to spoil our plans and those of the others too.
"We can't control the weather, we can only adapt to it as it changes.
"As for the car, I would say the first impressions are quite positive: everything seems to respond as we would expect.
"We only made a few small modifications to the set-up, trying to improve it, but it's obviously too early to draw any conclusions. Let's say the weekend has got off on the right foot for us: now we must try and keep going down this path."
