An unimpressed Sebastian Vettel has voiced his displeasure after learning that Mercedes spent three days testing Pirelli's tyres after the Spanish GP.

Although Mercedes and Pirelli insist they were given permission by the FIA to hold the test, Vettel's Red Bull team lodged an official protest against the Brackley outfit ahead of a Monaco GP won by Nico Rosberg.

"It's a bit weird if the regulations don't allow you to test and one team goes testing," argued a disgruntled Vettel. "There's talk of an agreement and blah, blah, blah, but it's not good.

"What's the solution now? Does everyone have a go for three days or are they the only ones? It's just silly to come up with these discussions now."

Red Bull's critics branded the team sore losers in the wake of their withering condemnation of this year's Pirelli tyres and Vettel was quick to insist he didn't believe Rosberg's victory was a result of the Barcelona test.

However, the World Champion does believe the three days spent running the Pirelli compounds would have been of benefit to a team which, until Monaco, had been unable to convert their qualifying superiority into victory on race day due to the corrosive W04's habit of overheating its rear tyres.

"I don't think they won because of last week, I want to get that straight, but surely it helps if you have extra experience - as we know, testing is very limited," he added.

Vettel finished Sunday's race in second place to increase his lead of the World Championship to a formidable 21 points.
