Sergio Perez admits he is now up against it understanding his new McLaren

Mexican needs dry running to work on set-up

Sergio Perez has admitted that he is now up against time in preparing his McLaren for the season-opening race in Melbourne.

Perez is due to run again on Saturday, when dry weather is forecast. He added that, besides set-up, gauging the effectiveness of upgrades McLaren have introduced this week is the priority. "I would really like to learn about the updates, we have some updates on the car - about the set-up, to get comfortable with the set-up because the last day I was here, I was not comfortable with the set-up I had," the former Sauber driver added. "We've done some changes and obviously I'd like to try them before Melbourne. But if I don't get the opportunity to try them then I'll have to look forward to Melbourne and there's nothing else we can do."
