Pastor Maldonado will take a five place grid drop after Williams were forced to change his gearbox after an accident in qualifying.

The Venezuelan had been on course to break into the top 10 shootout in Canada, but clipped the 'Wall of Champions' on the exit of the final corner and pirouetted across the track.

That left him 17th on the grid after Q2, but the damage caused to the rear of the car necessitated a gearbox change and the Williams driver will drop to 22nd on the grid.

The Caterham's of Heikki Kovalainen and Vitaly Petrov, Jean-Eric Vergne for Toro Rosso, and HRT's Pedro de la Rosa will all benefit from the penalty.

It is the second race weekend in a row that Maldonado has taken a penalty after qualifying, having been punished in Monaco for a clash in P3 with Sergio Perez.
