Penalties for Maldonado, Perez

Five-place penalties for pair after gearbox changes

Pastor Maldonado and Sergio Perez will start from the back of the grid for the Monaco Grand Prix after both their cars were fitted with new gearboxes. Both Williams and Sauber decided to make the changes after qualifying on Saturday. As the existing gearboxes had not been used for five consecutive races, the FIA has handed both drivers a five-place grid penalty in accordance with Article 28.6 a) of the Sporting Regulations. Maldonado had already picked up a 10-place penalty after stewards decided he had deliberately collided with Perez in Saturday morning's practice session. That placed him 19th on the grid, with Perez already down in 24th place after he crashed out of the first qualifying session. So with all respective penalties now applied, Perez will start at the back of the grid with Maldonado one place ahead. Revised Monaco starting grid in full
