Sky Bet's new favourite to win the PDC World Championships after their darts betting market was blown wide open by Phil Taylor's shock exit.
The Power was odds-on to make it 16 titles at the Alexandra Palace as he headed into Tuesday night's encounter with Dave Chisnall, who was a 6/1 punt to become only the seventh player ever to beat Taylor in the tournament.
But 'Chizzy' made light of both the hefty price and his daunting opposition, producing a composed display to make the 15-time World Champion pay for a string of doubles misses, and has consequently been cut from 40/1 to
8/1 fourth favourite for the title.
But it is last year's losing finalist and the reigning Premier League champion Anderson who is now the
3/1 favourite, cut from 8/1 with Taylor no longer on his side of the draw.
Reigning champion Adrian Lewis is
9/2 to retain his title with the man he is scheduled to meet in the semis, James Wade, the same price.
Sky Bet's darts trader Chris Spicer said: "Taylor's shock exit has cast fresh doubt on whether or not he is still the man to beat in the PDC.
"The Power has struggled throughout 2011 and, after constantly earmarking the World Championships as his biggest tournament of his year, will be devastated after an under-par performance saw him crash out in the second round.
"Sky Bet punters, however, were wise to the prospect of an upset, as PDC newcomer Dave Chisnall saw sustained backing at 6/1 and rewarded their faith with a performance worthy earning himself a place among our favourites."
