Michael van Gerwen: PDC ProTour victory in Killarney
Michael van Gerwen continued his superb month as he captured the John McEvoy Gold Dart Classic title in Killarney.
Just a week after landing the World Grand Prix crown in Dublin, the Dutch youngster powered to a 6-3 victory over Nick Fulwell in the final to claim the £6,000 first prize.
Van Gerwen was close to unstoppable in his 6-2 semi-final win over Jamie Caven, posting a three-dart average of 113.09 and taking out one 11-dart leg and two 12 darters.
Fullwell's consolation was his best-ever payday on the PDA ProTour, enjoying wins over World Youth Champion Arron Monk, Mick Egan, Brian Woods and John Henderson.
The Stourbridge thrower than edged Saturday's champion Peter Wright 6-4 in the semi-final, but he had no answer to Van Gerwen's irresistable form in his maiden final.
The Killarney Darts Festival also featured the non-ranked Ladbrokes Irish Masters on Friday, in which Gary Anderson beat Colin Osborne in the final.
