Phil Taylor marched into the semi-finals of the coral.co.uk Players Championship with a 9-0 whitewash of Colin Lloyd.

Quarter-Finals
R Thornton 9-5 D Priestley
J Wade 9-8 R van Barneveld
R Baxter 9-5 M King
P Taylor 9-0 C Lloyd

'Jaws' was left toothless as the 14-time World Champion produced a clinical performance in his bid for a clean sweep of the major televised events.

Taylor had already seen off Dutch duo Michael van Gerwen and Vincent van der Voort with averages of 108 in the earlier rounds.

"I'm not happy about doing that to Colin but I had to be professional and do the job," he said after his comprehensive victory.

"I'm determined to win this title and have two more hurdles to get over."

Brilliant Baxter

Next up for 'The Power' will be Ronnie Baxter, who reached the last four in fine style with a 9-5 win over Mervyn King.

The Rocket finished the quarter-final clash with a flourish, winning five legs on the bounce and sealing his success with a 167 checkout.

James Wade is also through to the semi-finals, though he was made to work hard by Raymond Van Barneveld in a see-saw battle.

The Dutchman looked down and out when he lost the opening four legs, only to then battle back to take the lead. Eventually Wade won out, the world number two holding his nerve to triumph in the deciding leg.

Wade's opponent will be Robert Thornton after the Scot ended Dennis Priestley's run in the competition with a 9-5 result.

Priestley had come from 5-0 down to win 6-5 against John Part earlier in the day but could not repeat the heroics, Thornton cruising into the next round.
