Defending champion Scott Waites suffered a shock defeat in the first round of the BDO World Championship as Alan Norris claimed a 3-0 victory.
Waites struggled to find his form after being affected by a 45-minute power cut before going on stage at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green.
Yeovil-born world No 31 Norris, who averaged 93.27, took the first and third sets 3-2 and the second set 3-1 to secure a famous win.
"I've had a fair few mishaps coming up to Christmas but Alan played awesome on the day," said 36-year-old Yorkshireman Waites.
"I know what sort of game I'm going to get from Alan and I didn't turn up."
Two-time semi-finalist Wesley Harms joined Norris in the second round after beating England's Paul Jennings 3-0 although his Dutch compatriot and world No 8 Jeffrey de Graaf suffered a 3-0 defeat against Englishman Martin Atkins.
Meanwhile, three-time champion Martin Adams set-up a first-round showdown with last year's runner-up Tony O'Shea after beating Canadian David Cameron 3-1 in the preliminary round.
Adams, winner in 2007, 2010 and 2011, has slipped down the rankings after a poor year, but he will have the chance to bounce back against O'Shea.
