The two remaining quarter-finals of the PDC World Darts Championship take place at Alexandra Palace on Sunday evening.

In the first encounter tournament favourite Adrian Lewis takes on old adversary James Wade, then Michael Van Gerwen faces off against Mark Webster.

A two-time champion at Ally Pally, Lewis has looked in ominous form thus far dropping just one set on his way past Denis Smith and Vincent Der Voort, before dispatching Mervyn King 4-1 to book his spot in the last eight.

Although clinical on the doubles, the 28-year-old from Stoke was some way from his best against King and will probably have to improve on an average of just 91 if he is to end the challenge of Wade.

The left-hander struggled past Darren Webster and Andy Smith by the odd set in the first two rounds, but looked far more slick as he whitewashed surprise package Devon Petersen to earn a showdown with Lewis.

Lewis heads into the contest as a warm favourite with the layers, Sky Bet pricing him up as a 4/11 shot, with Wade the outsider at 21/10.

Webster out to shock MVG

In the evening's other duel, Van Gerwen will be looking to maintain his bid for a second successive final appearance as he takes on former BDO world champion Webster.

Second favourite for the event behind Lewis, the Dutchman has yet to hit the heights at this year's competition and was more than a shade fortunate to come through his third round encounter with Gary Anderson.

The Scot was 3-1 up on Van Gerwen and had a dart for the match in the sixth set before his rival roused himself to complete a memorable 4-3 triumph.

But Van Gerwen's rather shaky performance will give Webster hope of pulling off what would be a shock victory as he bids to secure a second visit to the PDC World Championship semi-finals having also reached the last four in 2010.

The Welshman has already ended the hopes of one big name Dutchman with a thrilling 4-3 win over Raymond van Barneveld in the third round and will be looking to repeat the trick against MVG.

However, bookmakers can only foresee one result with Van Gerwen going off an overwhelming 1/12 favourite, while Webster can be backed at 13/2.
