Scott Waites stormed to his first BDO World Championship title at the Lakeside with a thumping 7-1 victory over Tony O'Shea in the final on Sunday.
The pre-tournament favourite had been the form player all week at Frimley Green, and in the end he only lost five sets in winning the tournament having never previously been beyond the quarter finals.
A burst of ten legs on the spin in the middle of the match from 'Scotty Too Hotty' proved to be the difference, as he moved into a 5-0 lead and put one hand on the trophy.
The Silverback O'Shea finally got a set on the board in the next, but that was as good as it got for the number four seed as he went on to lose his third world final at the Lakeside.
Former Grand Slam of Darts champion and third seed Waites though proved to be a cut above all the rest of the BDO as he dominated from start to finish to finally get his hands on the trophy.
"All I was trying to do was batter away and get a few sets in front of Tony," said Waites. "Tony didn't look like his normal self, but I'm quite happy with that!
"I'm chuffed to bits. It is what everybody aspires to win, and I've done it now. The crowd have been fantastic, I know they all wanted Tony to win but they were still great when I hit that finally double."
O'Shea was way below his best and was upset that he never managed to find a way to go into the game after playing well all week.
"I was slow out the blocks and Scott did what he does he was superb," said O'Shea. "I'm disappointed because I didn't give him a game really - I tried but it just wasn't there.
"The crowd were behind me and I'm gutted for them as well as I couldn't give them the game they deserved."
