Simon Whitlock won through to the Championship League Darts Winners Group at the fifth time of asking.
The Australian, who had been involved in each day of the tournament so far this year, beat compatriot Paul Nicholson 6-3 in Wednesday's Group Five final.
The Wizard had been the only player to beat Nicholson in the round robin league phase at Crondon Park in Essex, snatching a 6-5 win with a final-leg 11-darter.
After powering past Dave Chisnal in the semi-finals with an 107.02 average, Whitlock made a slow start to the final as Nicholson moved into a 2-0 lead.
But he stopped the rot with an 11-dart finish to take the third leg then rattled off the next four to move into a 5-2 lead.
Nicholson hit back when he took out tops for an 82-finish but it was only a temporary reprieve as Whitlock finished on double-10 in the next leg to secure the £2,850 prize.
"I played really well today and I'm very happy with the result," said Whitlock, last month's European Championship winner.
"It was great to finally make a final because I scraped through in a couple of the days, but I've been pretty consistent and all the players seem to produce their best darts here for some reason."
