'Jackpot' White-washed, Lloyd malfunctions 'Machine'

World champion Adrian Lewis and world No.3 James Wade were both dumped out of the PartyPoker.net European Championship in the opening round on Friday night. Lewis suffered a humiliating 6-0 defeat to Ian White in the biggest upset of the Germany-based tournament, while Colin Lloyd rolled back the years to earn a 6-3 win over Wade. White took advantage of three missed doubles in the opening leg against Lewis, and that set the tone for a one-sided all-Stoke clash. "It's amazing and I would never have expected to win 6-0 - I'm lost for words," said White.

Barney on fire

"Everything went for me and I couldn't seem to miss. I took my chances and the first leg was pretty important because it settled me down." Lloyd romped into a 4-1 lead and held on to record his seventh win over Wade in their last eight meetings. Meanwhile, Raymond van Barneveld posted a career-best televised average of 113.04 as he cruised to a 6-1 victory over Terry Jenkins. The popular Dutchman now faces a mouth-watering second-round tie against in-form compatriot Michael van Gerwen, who also posted a three-figure average in his tense 6-5 win over Andy Smith. The "Pieman" roared back from 4-1 down to force a deciding leg, but he missed two match darts and Van Gerwen capitalised to hit double four.
