Wade & Taylor: will clash at the O2

James Wade says there's no reason why he can't topple Phil Taylor in the McCoys Premier League Darts Play-Offs.

The Machine faces the world number one at the O2 Arena on Thursday night looking to book a place in the Premier League Final against either Andy Hamilton or Simon Whitlock.

Taylor has been in imperious form in this season's competition, throwing a nine-dart finish in Aberdeen and breaking the tournament record for a match average in Exeter.

"If the right one turns up then it'll be a good game between me and Phil and there's no reason why I can't win."
James Wade Quotes of the week

But Wade, who won the Premier League in 2009, says he can cause an upset if he gets his game right.

"I can do anything, it just depends what James turns up," he told Sky Sports.

"Sometimes it's the right one and sometimes it's the wrong one. If the right one turns up then it'll be a good game between me and Phil and there's no reason why I can't win.

"But if the wrong one turns up I'm not going to get many legs!

"I've actually done a bit of practice this week, which is unusual and I'm really looking forward to playing in the last four.

"Last year I didn't make it and I was really disappointed; this year I just about made it and I'm looking forward to it."

Dedicated

Taylor has won five of the previous seven editions of the Premier League and topped the table after the regular season eight points clear of his nearest rival.

And Wade, who finished fourth in the standings, says The Power's success is down to his relentless hard work.

"He's the best player in the world. The reason he is the best player in the world is because he's the most dedicated," he added.

"People like me would rather do other stuff, but he's dedicated his whole life to the game and now he's reaping the rewards as he should do.

"A lot of us are quite lazy, but Phil's not. He makes sure he practises and he makes he sure he commits himself to the games. That's why he gets the results and that's why he wins so much.

"It's no secret!"
