Michael van Gerwen produced a record-breaking display to win the German Darts Championship in Hildesheim.
Van Gerwen claimed a little bit of revenge over PDC world champion Gary Anderson 6-2 in the final at Halle 39, but it was the manner of his victory that those in attendance will remember.
The 2013 PDC champion averaged an incredible 117.94 in the final as he rattled off four straight legs to beat Anderson and claim his fourth tournament win of the month.
Anderson hit four 180s in the first four legs, which were shared, and when he levelled at 2-2 with an 11-darter it appeared like a classic final would ensue.
But van Gerwen simply stepped up a gear, first taking out 151 to move 3-2 in front and then finishing on 167 to break Anderson's throw.
The seventh leg was a thing of beauty as van Gerwen piled up 180, 140 and 149 before hitting double-10 for a ten-dart finish, and he was only two darts slower in sealing victory in the eighth leg.
Van Gerwen said: "Anderson showed why he is world champion and when he's on form you have to play like this if you're going to beat him.
"It's lovely to be the first player to win four of these European Tour events because they are so hard to win."
Van Gerwen has lost only one game since being beaten by Anderson in the semi-finals at Alexandra Palace last month, although the Scot will have a quick chance of revenge when they meet again in the Betway Premier League in Liverpool on Thursday.
The Dutchman also averaged over 103 in beating Joe Murnan 6-4 in the quarter-finals and didn't have to be anywhere near his best in taking down Mensur Suljovic to reach the final.
