Excited

The Australian said of the move: "I'm very excited to be joining an extremely strong and experienced squad at Team Saxo-Tinkoff for the coming seasons. "I feel I can have a positive effect particularly during stage races ranging from just a few days right through to the Grand Tours. I certainly look forward to the many new challenges that lay ahead." Rogers came under the spotlight earlier in the season for his work with now-banned Dr Michele Ferrari in 2005 and 2006, and was also named in Levi Leipheimer's affidavit in the Lance Armstrong USADA case as having attended multiple altitude training camps in 2005 with other Ferrari clients. Rogers though, has always maintained that doping was never discussed with Ferrari and Team Sky confirmed that his departure had nothing to do with their strict anti-doping charter which all staff and riders were asked to sign in October. An official statement from Team Sky read: "Michael was interviewed at the October training camp, like all riders, and there was no admission or disclosure that required him to leave. "He made the decision to join a new team with a new challenge after two years with us, and during that time there have been no doubts about his approach or success with us. "We thank Michael for his work with Team Sky and wish him well for the next stage of his career."
